Bollards
Some UC Berkeley campus paths are open to bicyclists, as indicated by the sign at the left of the photo. The paths have numerous bollards -- all of steel and capable of causing serious injury. They are tall enough to catch a bicyclist in the chest or face. Many are where motor vehicles would not normally get to in any case. This set of bollards has three openings, creating a center lane whose direction of travel is unclear. The difference in quality of bicycle accommodation on this campus, compared with UC Davis, is like night and day.
